2020-03-23cbfstool: Build vboot libraryYu-Ping Wu
Currently cbfstool cherry-picks a few files from vboot and hopes these files will work standalone without any dependencies. This is pretty brittle (for example, CL:2084062 will break it), and could be improved by building the whole vboot library and then linking against it. Therefore, this patch creates a new target $(VBOOT_HOSTLIB) and includes it as a dependency for cbfstool and ifittool. To prevent building the vboot lib twice (one for cbfstool and the other for futility) when building coreboot tools together, add the variable 'VBOOT_BUILD' in Makefile to define a shared build path among different tools so that vboot files don't need to be recompiled. Also ignore *.o.d and *.a for vboot library. The purpose of this tool is to manipulate and get information about the `Back Up Control, Top Swap` mechanism present on most Intel Southbridges. This tool is initially written by Peter Stuge. This tool makes it possible to have a backup mechanism for the bootblock by using the southbridges Back Up Control Top Swap. Sometimes it is also possible to circumvent vendor write protection mechanisms in order to flash coreboot. An example of where this would be useful would be the Lenovo Thinkpad X60 and T60. This commit adds the necessary infrastructure to convert the Markdown files in the Documentation directory to HTML using Sphinx[1] and recommonmark[2]. I selected "sphinx_rtd_theme" as the theme, because it offers a useful navigation sidebar, and because it's already used for the Linux kernel[3]. Makefile.sphinx was auto-generated by sphinx-quickstart. conf.py was auto-generated and manually adjusted. We already have the ability to add a pxe rom to cbfs, but it needs to be configured and built separately. This moves the existing Kconfig options for PXE from device/Kconfig and the top level Makefile.inc to payloads, and adds the option to download and build iPXE as part of the coreboot build process. This configures the serial output of iPXE to match coreboot's serial port configuration by editing the .h files. iPXE doesn't give any real build-time method of setting these configuration options. 2016-04-13romcc: Rewrite the test systemJonathan Neuschäfer
Differences: - The test logic is now only implemented in one place (pending the deletion of the old parts), whereas it previously was implemented both as make rules and as a pair of shell scripts. - Tests don't need to be registered anymore. Just adding a new file with the correct name is enough to have it tested. - The code is hopefully more readable and maintainable. - The new test script supports colors (if the standard output is a terminal and --nocolor was not passed on the command line). Things to do in follow-up patches: - Remove the old test code - Test or remove fail_test*.c, hello_world*.c and raminit_test*.c - Fix regressions that have built up over the years, while making sure not to introduce new ones - Makefile integration - Jenkins integration There are tests in the makefile that specify -fno-always-inline, but this option doesn't exist anymore, so I didn't port them over. 2014-03-20util: add rmodtool for parsing ELF files to rmodulesAaron Durbin
The current implementation of creating rmodules relies on invoking the linker in a certain manner with the relocations overlaid on the BSS section. It's not really surprising that the linker doesn't always behave the way one wants depending on the linker used and the architecture. Instead, introduce rmodtool which takes an ELF file as an input, parses it, and creates a new ELF file in the format the rmodule loader expects. 2013-11-19Add GRUB2 payload to build systemVladimir Serbinenko
Since a long time GRUB 2 is a viable payload alternative to SeaBIOS and FILO. So make it easy for coreboot users to use GRUB 2 as a payload by integrating it into coreboot’s build system, so it can be selected in Kconfig. As the last GRUB 2 release 2.00 is too old and has several bugs when used as a coreboot payload only allow to build GRUB 2 master until a new GRUB release is done. The downside is, that accidental breakage in GRUB’s upstream does not affect coreboot users. Currently the GRUB 2 payload is built with the default modules which results in an uncompressed size of around 730 kB. Compressed it has a size of 340 kB, so it should be useable with 512 kB flash ROMs. Tested with QEMU. 2013-11-17Updates to the board status scriptDavid Hendricks
This is the first major re-work for the board status script. Summary: - Added a command to the getrevision.sh script to retrieve tagged revision. - Results are placed in a dynamically generated temporary location. This makes it easy to do multiple trial runs and avoids polluting the coreboot directory. - Results are stored in a directory with the following form: <vendor>/<mainboard>/<tagged_revision>/<timestamp>/ Vendor and mainboard are obtained from CONFIG_MAINBOARD_DIR so that hierarchy is consistent between coreboot and board-status. - The results directory is used as the commit message. - board-status repository is checked out automatically if results are to be uploaded. TODO: - Add ability to run commands which may fail. Currently we assume any failure should terminate the script, but some commands can be made optional. Successfully uploaded first result to board-status repository. See http://review.coreboot.org/gitweb?p=board-status.git;a=summary .
