2019-03-22lint/kconfig: More checks, more errorsJulius Werner
This patch changes a few more Kconfig linter warnings to errors that currently do not show up in the tree and that seem unlikely to become false positive in the future. One instance of duplicated code that essentially checks for the same thing was consolidated. It also adds a new test for references to boolean Kconfig options that do not use the CONFIG() wrapper macro. It's a little flaky (e.g. hard to handle multi-line comments), but it should be helpful the majority of the time as a warning in a Jenkins comment. 2019-03-15Revert "lint/clang-format: set to 96 chars per line"Julius Werner
This reverts commit 626ba097a2cd1c87800a2154420829b09803467e. This change was submitted under the incorrect assumption that there was agreement on a coding style change. There wasn't, so while the issue is under discussion we should revert to the previous status quo. Making clang-format honor the line length is a separate issue from changing the line length, and can be reuploaded as a separate CL. 2019-03-08lint/kconfig: Update to support new CONFIG() macroJulius Werner
This patch updates the Kconfig linter to support the new CONFIG() macro in the same manner that IS_ENABLED() was previously supported. It will be flagged when it is used on non-bool Kconfigs or used with #ifdef, and it is supported for checking used Kconfigs. Remaining uses of IS_ENABLED() are flagged with a deprecation warning. 2019-03-06lint/kconfig: Fix check for IS_ENABLED(XXX) where someone forgot CONFIG_Julius Werner
This is a great check, but unfortunately it's currently not effective because most uses of IS_ENABLED() do not have whitespace in front of them (they're mostly used as part of an if (IS_ENABLED(...)) condition). This patch makes the linter a little more generous in what it considers in scope to avoid these false negatives in the future. 2019-03-05util/lint: Fix clang-format test and enable it by defaultPatrick Georgi
git diff needed to emit diffs without prefix (e.g. a/ and b/) for clang-format-diff to be able to work. Also require that the test succeeds, but note that it only runs on trees whitelisted in $(top)/.clang-format-scope. On FreeBSD, this test was failing with the error: "grep: Argument list too long" - Remove support for testing coreboot not in a git repo. Many of the other linters already don't support this. - Use git grep to find offending files, then xargs to print out the lines. 2019-01-04util/gitconfig/pre-commit: Use clang-format to sanitise commitsEdward O'Callaghan
Use the `git-format' tool to sanitise coreboot commits such that they conform to coreboot's coding style. This fancy piece of machinary allows one to have LibFormat from Clang to automatically check your commit conforms to coreboot's coding style, fix any issues automatically and provides you a diff you may review and apply at your convenience. N.B. When the `clang-format' binary is not found we issue a warning that the test was skipped and carry on as usual. Hence, this is strictly non-enforcing at this current time. 2018-11-30arch/power8: Rename to ppc64Jonathan Neuschäfer
POWER8 is a specific implementation of ppc64, which is by now outdated (POWER9 has been on the market for a while). Rename arch/power8/ to potentially cover a wider range of hardware. TEST=Toolchains built before/after this commit can build coreboot for emulation/qemu-power8 from before/after this commit. 2018-09-04util/lint: Update whitespace linter for FreeBSDMartin Roth
On FreeBSD, this test was failing with the error: "grep: Argument list too long" I found that changing this to other forms takes MUCH longer, so I left the original method mostly unchanged except for moving the include & exclude lists into variables. Currently, I'm setting all non-linux operating systems to use the second version. I'll update that if I find other that other OSes support the first. 2018-06-14util/lint: Run lint-extended-007-final-newlines checks in parallelMartin Roth
Instead of checking each directory in series, kick off the checks in parallel and then wait for them to finish. Failures print out with file information, so mixing output isn't a problem. This reduces the time it takes to run on lumberingbuilder by 60%. This could probably be sped up even more by splitting up src/mainboard into smaller sections. This method does skip a few control files at the top level - .gitignore, .checkpatch.conf, gnat.adc, etc. These could be added to the list of files to check, but I didn't think it was needed. 2018-05-31util/lint: Add check that changes conform to clang-format stylePatrick Georgi
It's a white list (configured through $(top)/.clang-format-scope) with the expectation that the list will grow over time. Once everything is covered, we can turn off the white-listing and keep everything enforced. To not drive people crazy, only check the files their commit touched. The `lint-extended-015-final-newlines` script skips over executable files and thus leaves script files unchecked. Use `file` to find scripts and include them in the `final newlines` checks. Whitelisting is used including bash, perl, python and sh scripts. 2018-01-23util/lint: Unify checks for git worktreeAlex Thiessen
Linters try to determine whether they are running in a git worktree so that `git grep` can be used instead of `grep`. These checks are done in different not truly correct ways and thus the linters don't use `git grep` when running from a worktree subdirectory, e.g. in a git subtree environment. Unify checks using `git rev-parse --is-inside-work-tree`. The final newline check is taking longer than we'd like to run. Since it runs on every commit as part of the pre-commit check, we want that to run faster than it currently does. The current signed-off-by check doesn't really work well as a lint stable test being run by the pre-commit git hook. This test looks at the PREVIOUS commit instead of the staged commit, which works well on the server.
