I didn't go whole hog and replace these with std::vector,
but in the mean time, it is silly to cast a typedef for
a template instantiated against void* when we can just
instantiate the template against the actual type.
The ones that remain are actual heterogeneous arrays with
wacky casting.

This reverts commit 0569ab0b11b723d9bca4ddd642b0cf8828c4bdd1.
This changes the various comparisons of char >= '0' && char <= '9' and
char < '0' || char > '9' to use std::isdigit checks. It also cleans up
a handful of hex to digit conversions to call one common method.

Consequence of having the same code in two places;
fx_basic_bstring.cpp is correct, but fx_basic_wstring.cpp
is missing one small change.
Noticed while working on 542403, but this will not fix that
issue. It is just a space savings.

Clang warns if there are missing braces around a subobject
initializer. The most common idiom that triggers this is:
STRUCT s = {0};
if the first field of STRUCT is itself a struct. This can
be more simply written as:
STRUCT s = {};
which also prevents the warning from firing.
Other instances of the warning have been fixed by adding
braces where appropriate.

was last century. The compiler will take care of it just fine.
